Being scared happens to everyone,

It can make it hard to have fun.

When we feel fear,

It does not have to be from something right here.

Fear is thinking something bad will take place,

Even if that is not the case.

Feeling scared can sometimes keep us well,

It is nature’s little tell,

It raises a little alarm,

That something could cause us harm.

What Does it Feel Like?

Being scared can feel many different ways,

It can be for a moment or sometimes days.

Fear can make your body numb and tingle,

It is like an alarm bell starting to jingle.

You might feel your heart pounding really loud,

Maybe you feel small like you are alone in a crowd.

It can be hard to breathe slow,

It can feel like being down and low.

Fear can feel make us feel mad or sad.

We could want to run away from the thing that is bad.

There are things for you discover,

To help you feel better by yourself or with another.

What Can You Do to Feel Better?

It is okay to feel scared,

Your fears might be different than others when compared.

That is okay,

It is about dealing with your fears in a healthy way.

You can ask for help when you have had a scare,

Talk to someone you know will care.

Taking a break can help, too.

Slow, deep breaths are also something you can do.

With the help of a loved one or friend,

You can face your fears which might help them end.

It can help to think of a happy place,

It can make you feel secure and safe.

You can go for a walk,

Or find a safe place to talk.

Remember to be kind to you,

It is an important thing to do.

  • Play with a pet
  • Ask for help
